Tigre
Tigre is where Banderones learned what its land could do. The oldest plantings sit here, and the score that opened the door — 87 points, cupped by certified Q graders — came off this ground.
It is the broadest of the three hills and the most even. The canopy above it is continuous rather than patchy, which slows ripening and gives the pickers a longer window to work in. Nothing is planted in straight rows: the slope does not allow it, and the shade trees were standing before the coffee went in.
This is the hill we ask to be consistent. It carries the varieties selected for structure rather than for spectacle — the ones that hold their profile through a difficult year. When a buyer asks what Banderones tastes like, the honest answer is a Tigre lot.
